Comets sail past Corsairs in 90-55 victory

CYPRESS, CA (12/6/2019) – Palomar started round one of the Cypress College Lady Charger Classic against Santa Monica College and walked out with 90-55 win.

Sophomore guard Julie Saelee stole the show when she posted 20 points, a season-high, and seven rebounds. Nikki Mayoral was right behind her with 19 points, four rebounds, four assists and one steal. Freshman guard Aaliyah Taylor had eight points but crashed the boards and ended the night with 14 rebounds and four steals, along with two assists. Sophomore Dee Dee Valenzuela finished with nine points and nine rebounds.

As a team, the Comets had 63 rebounds and committed nine turnovers. They caused 25 turnovers and scored 35 points off of them. The Comets went 19-25 at the free-throw line shooting 76 percent, their best on the season.

Palomar moves to 9-1 on the season and will face El Camino College in the second round of the tournament Saturday night at 5 p.m.
