Warriors Sweep Three-Match Day at Home

TORRANCE, Calif. – It was a long day of volleyball but at the end of it all, El Camino College walked away with three victories in three matches at the ECC Sand Volleyball Courts.

The Warriors cruised to 5-0 wins in their first two matches against Riverside and Santa Monica respectively before needing to dig deep to pull out a 3-2 decision over San Diego Mesa in the final match of the afternoon.

In the final match, the No. 3 pair of Jessica Jimenez and Mikayla Clark proved to have the critical contest of the match, pulling out a gripping three-set victory including a 15-12 decision in the final set. This came after the duo won the opening frame by just four points and then dropping the second set by only two.

The victory put the Warriors in the win column after dropping the No. 1 and No. 2 pairs match to the Olympians.

Once Clark and Jimenez scored their victory, the No. 4 pair of Kelly Donatucci and Jessica Villasenor and the No. 5 grouping of Renee Brydon and Moe Ikeda swept their contests to clinch the match for the Warriors.

The team will return to action Saturday as they hit the road to take on Grossmont and Ottawa University of Arizona.
