SANTA MONICA - The Marauder men's basketball team isn't used to losing this season, especially not two in a row.
However, that's what happened Saturday night as AVC traveled to Santa Monica College and was handed its second loss in a row, 73-65, the other coming at the hands of Bakersfield College in which the Marauders were defeated by 21 points.
The loss drops AVC two games in the Western States-South Division behind leader Bakersfield College and one game behind Santa Monica College and Glendale College.
The Marauders were led by Joseph Moorer who finished with 14 points. Nevell Lenard added 13 points and Cory Dollarhide came off the bench to score 11 points, including three 3-pointers.
Still what has been the Achilles heel for AVC all season is rebounding. The Marauders have only had two players rebound in double figures all season and Saturday night was no different as Santa Monica College outrebounded AVC, 41-26. Lenard was the leading rebounder for AVC with five.
