Men's Basketball Overcomes 15 Point Deficit to Beat Santa Monica

VALLEY VILLAGE - The Men's Basketball team had an incredible come from behind win over Santa Monica Wednesday night, beating the Corsairs 88-84.

Santa Monica came out hot going up 23-10 to begin the game.  Throughout the first half the Monarchs found themselves down by as much as 15 points.  Everything changed, though, when Freshman guard Khalil Forrester came off the bench and into the game. Immediately the Monarchs went on a tear, outscoring the Corsairs 20-4 to end the first half.  That left the Monarchs down by just three to begin the second half.

It was a bit of a shaky start to the first half for the Monarchs when Santa Monica hit a couple of shots and put themselves up by seven.  It looked like the Monarchs might have let their potential comeback slip away.  But Forrester was there to stop the bleeding, hitting a couple of timely jumpers and hitting his teammates for some easy layups.  The Monarchs pulled ahead six minutes into the second quarter.  Although the Corsairs tied the game a couple of times, the Monarchs did not let them pull ahead for the rest of the game.

Khalil Forrester finished with a team leading 21 points and eight assists.  The comeback was assisted by four other Monarchs with double digit point totals - Nikko Rodriguez had 13 points, Andre Parris and Zyaun Lee each had 11 for the Monarchs and Manny Kapoushian had 10 points.

The Monarchs travel to West L.A. on Saturday, tip off is at 3:00 p.m.
