JC Football: Strong defense waits for SMC's offense to wake up in win over LA Southwest

Last season, Santa Monica College's victory over LA Southwest was one of the largest in school history.

Yesterday, it was anything but that in the first half, but the Corsairs manage to recover in the final thirty minutes for an easy 27-2 victory to extend their Pacific Conference winning streak to 15 games.

Not many people were expecting to see a repeat performance of a 68-0 win for a year ago. However, coming off a bye week, SMC seemed lost early on as they gave up a safety, missed two field goals and a PAT, while continuing their season long inability to move the ball on offense.

Once again, SMC head coach Gifford Lindheim was forced to go to the bench in search of a spark as newly installed starting quarterback Brad Hunt was pulled in favor of freshman Jerry McConnico in the second quarter after Hunt had only 14 yards passing. TO READ MORE
