SMC Football falls to Orange Coast College

The Corsairs fell to Orange Coast College 44-28 in a National Division game played at Dick Tucker Stadium in Costa Mesa.  After falling behind through three quarters, Santa Monica outscored the OCC Pirates 21-3 behind strong QB play from Paul Davis, who rushed for 2 TDs while leading the Corsairs to 3 TDs on 4 offensive possesions.  

Offensively, the Corsairs were powered by Ricky Hambright, who led all rushers in the game with 114 yards on 19 carries.  Jordan Herrera added a team high 76 yards receiving, while Elijah Boykin tied for a game high of 7 receptions.  

Chris Wein paced the defense with 18 tackles, 11 of which were solo tackles.  Wein now leads all of California in tackles with an average of 15.3 tackles per game.  Richard Harbor lead the defense with two passes defensed and Sky Germaine added 10 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 Forced Fumble and a batted pass.  Defensive linemen Iuta Mailoto and Bryce Harvey added pressure up front by combining for 9 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a batted pass.
