The Santa Monica College men's basketball team has gotten off to a blistering 8-1 start, including a 110-84 rout of Los Angeles Southwest College.  The win was the largest margin of victory for the Corsairs during this opening streak.  SMC shot a blistering 61.5 percent from three and shot 57.7 percent overall.

Continuing non-conference play, the Corsairs defeated both Rio Hondo College and Santa Ana College in a mini tournament over the weekend.

The Corsairs are currently first in the Western State South Conference ahead of second place Antelope Valley College, who sports an 8-2 record. Conference play begins for SMC on Jan. 8 against Citrus College.
