Santa Monica College reshman Daniel Hayes has signed a scholarship to continue his academic and athletic career at Ottawa University in Arizona. Hayes, a 6-8 power forward, has three years of eligibility remaining.

Hayes played last season for the Corsairs and he averaged 2.3 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game. Hayes had a season-high of 10 points and 9 rebounds on December 2, 2018.

"Daniel has a tremendous amount of upside! He is very skilled, athletic, and agile. Ottawa University sees the potential brewing in him. His next three years of basketball will be great," says Head Coach Joshua Thomas. "He has put on some muscle, and he has had a great offseason of development. I know he will have a great career at Ottawa University."

Ottawa University is a NAIA school that is located in Surprise, Arizona. Hayes is the second  Corsair to commit to Ottawa University. Maxwell Moses, a 6-5 small forward grey shirt freshman, signed there as well.

"Daniel and Maxwell really wanted to play together. They formed a strong bond from their time as teammates at SMC. This was a great situation to have two great friends get scholarships to the same school," says Thomas. "Daniel still has three years to play. We certainly look forward to rooting for Daniel as he continues his success in Arizona."
