The Santa Monica College Men's Basketball Team had numerous academic successes in the Fall 2021 semester.  Eleven members of the team made the "Dean's Honors List," which requires full-time students to have a 3.0 GPA or higher.  Of the eleven, three student-athletes had a GPA higher than 3.5 and ten student-athletes had a 3.20 or higher. The average GPA for the Fall 2021 semester for the men's basketball program was 3.01 GPA. One member in the program earned a 4.0 GPA in the Fall.

"I am very proud of the resilience and consistency shown in the classroom from this team. Eleven members on the Dean's Honors Lists bests our previous high of eight members in the Spring of 2020. Santa Monica College has amazing professors and resources for our students, and the success of these young men are attributed to the hard work our institution has provided to support our students," explained Head Coach Joshua Thomas. "Our men's basketball program values learning and matriculation. Our Athletic Director Reggie Ellis and our amazing Athletics Counselors do a great job of guiding our student-athletes towards academic success."
