Men's Basketball Ready for 22-23 Season

The men's basketball team played last weekend in the SoCal Juco fall Jamboree with the presence of over a hundred 4-year university coaches. The event took place at Cerritos College, on September 17th and 18th.

It was a terrific opportunity for coach Joshua Thomas to prepare for the 22-23 season which will start November 1st in an away game against Cerritos College.

The Corsairs played their first match against Southwestern College and managed to win 65-41. The next match was a little more difficult against Chabot College and the Corsairs fell 55 to 42.

The next two games went well for SMC as they beat LA Trade Tech 56-38 and then beat College of the Desert 56-51.

The Corsairs' leaders in the pre-season tournament were 6'9 Sophomore Center Quinn Collins, 6'6 Freshman Forward Malachi Wright, 6'6 Sophomore Small Forward Elijiah Scranton, and 6'4 Sophomore Shooting Guard Cam Cohn.

Coach Joshua Thomas has high hopes for the season and believes the team will make it to the state playoffs this coming year. All we need to do is pack the bleachers in home games and show our support.
