Jace Ng Breaks 2 State Records
Men's 100‐yard Breaststroke
**Champion: Jace Ng, Santa Monica, 53.80—new state meet record
Santa Monica is keeping the records inside the Corsair family as Ng broke the mark
set by SMC's Jeff Lum (54.48). Ng opened with a monster opening 50 at 25.10 and
took that to the record. He beat second‐place Loai Tashkandi (Golden West) by more
than two seconds (55.82). Santa Rosa's John Bing was third in 55.87.
Mens's 200-yard Breaststroke
**Champion: Jace Ng, Santa Monica, 1:59.15—new state meet record
Ng doubles up on state meet records as he breaks another record that had been set by former SMC swimmer Jeff Lum (1:59.35, 2012). Ng was not threatened in this race as De Anza's Darren Chan Chin Wah took second in 2:03.59 and Golden West's Loai Tashkandi was third in 2:05.79. Ng nearly didn't catch the record as he ran out of steam over the final 25 yards, but just got to the wall in time.
