2016 Year End Track and Field Review

2016 Year End Track and Field Review

Stirling Mcculloch:

A quiet and reserved Freshman who leads more by example than words, he lead the conference in the Long Jump with a leap of 22' 8" until conference finals, where he chose the wrong day to have a bad day and failed to qualify for post season competition.  Never the less, he was able to forget about the Long Jump in time to qualify for the Southern California Championships in the High Jump, where he jumped a personal best of 6' 7 ½" to qualify for the State Championship.  At State Championships he took 8th place with a 6' 6 1/14". He has put himself in a great position of being one of the leaders in the High Jump in the State, as we look to next year's season.

Amanda Yager:

Our women's team was lead by freshman by Amanda Yager, who's leadership qualities were so infectious that it motivated our other young ladies with none to little track and field experience to step out of their comfort zone, and go from having none to very little competition experience to qualifying for Southern California Championships in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.  Amanda has been spectacular!  She has managed to rise to the occasion every week as the competition has intensified and has been able to improve her personal best performances each week of the championship season to qualify for the State Championships in the 400 Intermediate Hurdles.  She posted a personal best performance at the Southern California Championships of 64.93 with a 4th place finish to qualify for the State Championships at Mesa College in San Diego where she posted a time of 66.45 that earned her a 7th place finish.  She too has positioned herself as being one of the state leaders in the 400 Intermediate Hurdles for next season.
