Fourth seeded Ryan Doherty and John Mayer defeated Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena two sets to one after coming back from dropping the first set at the AVP Seattle Open. (20-22, 21-17, 15-13). It was the first AVP tournament victory for Doherty, a 7-foot-1 former minor-league pitcher who won 13 games in the Arizona Diamondbacks' system from 2005-07, and Mayer the former Head Men's Volleyball coach at Santa Monica College.
