SMC Men 's Volleyball reaches the Final Four

SMC Head Men's Volleyball Coach Jackson Meticchechia talks about the upcoming final four match vs. Orange Coast College Thursday April 28 at 5:00 p.m. at LA Pierce College.

How are practices going this week in preparation for the match?

"Practices are going well.  The season is a grind.   Of course some guys are tired, but this is a time when everyone makes contributions.  But overall everything is going well."

Is there anyone playing well for you right now?

"Richard Yu has been carrying the offensive load for us, but we have a lot of guys contributing,  Joseph Mayer is setting really well.  Roscoe Nelms and Max Garis are passing well for us right now."

How do you feel in your 1st year as Head Coach at SMC getting to this point of a successful season?

"I feel very fortunate, and timing is everything. The program was left to me from good hands. The returning players and new players coming in have been an awesome group to coach.  I am really lucky that I have good guys on the team."

How do you feel overall about your team?

"They handle adversity well.  We have had a number of different starting lineups, but everyone has been willing to step in and do what needs to be done for the good of the team."

What do you know about your opponent?

"We have played Orange Coast the past couple of years in the post season.  They are well coached and its always going to be a tough match when you play them."

Any final thoughts?

"I'm excited that SMC Men's Volleyball has made it to the final four for the past 3 years.  This is a really good opportunity for us."
