The Santa Monica College Women's Basketball team started their 2012 – 2013 season in style as they defeated Cerro Coso College 54- 52 in the first day of the Coaches for Cancer Invitational tournament hosted by San Diego Mesa College. 

The Corsairs got contributions from nearly every player on the roster but were led by Freshman Guard Aniese Palmore (13 points, 7 rebounds) and Imani Holloway (10 points, 7 rebounds).  Freshman Center Hannah Naefke also contributed to the victory with 12 rebounds. 

With the victory, SMC improves to 1-0 on the year.  The Corsairs won't get much time to enjoy the victory as they get back out on the floor to take on the host San Diego Mesa College.  Tip off is set for 7:00 p.m.
