LOS ANGELES—The Santa Monica College Women's Basketball program celebrated its 2013 – 2014 season as coaches, student-athletes, parents and supporters gathered inside the City Club http://www.clubcorp.com/Clubs/City-Club-Los-Angeles
in downtown Los Angeles on the 51st floor on June 7, 2014 for the team's annual banquet to honor the accomplishments of the 2013-14 season.
The team was recognized and celebrated for their efforts during the season, and many of the players spoke about their appreciation for the coaching staff and fellow teammates. Each player received and individual award, a team yearbook and a commemorative t-shirt. Special thanks were given to Charles and Alicia Delgado for hosting the event at City Club.
Head Coach Lydia Strong recapped season's journey, with both a slide show and highlight DVD. "This season was a struggle at times", stated Coach Strong, "but the girls worked hard, had one of the most successful pre-seasons in recent memory and came together as a family." "It was a pleasure to coach all of them and we look forward to great things in the future as we return 8 freshmen next year."
