Santa Monica College Women's basketball standout Aniese Palmore has signed a national letter of intent to continue her collegiate basketball career next season.

Palmore will join the Bulldogs at the University of Montana Western. She accepted a full ride scholarship last weekend, and signed at the team banquet held at Dave and Busters Restaurant in Los Angeles.

Palmore started all 28 games each for the Corsairs last season and was a huge part of the team's success. She was selected to All Western State Conference 1st team last season.  She led the team in scoring (16.8 points per game, 7.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.   She was also voted team Most Valuable Player and SMC Athlete of the year.

Montana Western Head Coach Lindsay Woolley on Aniese:  "Aniese is a talented player.  She will fit very well into our system because of her ability to deliver the ball on time and to the right person. In addition to distributing the ball well, Aniese has proven she can score when needed.   We are excited that she has chosen to continue her playing career and to earn her degree from Montana Western."

SMC Head Coach Lydia Strong on Palmore:

"This is a great day for SMC Women's Basketball.   Aniese has worked hard both on and off the court and is obviously very deserving of this scholarship. She was a great leader for us this season and helped put our program back on the map.  It will be different not having her around but I know she will do well at the next level and I'm excited for her and the new challenge ahead."
