Oshaela Gray signs with Jackson State

Oshaela Gray (Hamilton High) has signed a NCAA Division I letter intent to attend Jackson State University on a full scholarship.     Gray, who led the SMC Women's Basketball team in scoring and assists this past season joins Tigers as they look to improve on their 14-16 record in the SWAC Conference.

Quote from Jackson State Head Coach Surina Dixon:

"Oshaela has everything that I look for in a student-athlete, and signing her has created even more excitement for our upcoming season.  Osheala has a great attitude toward life and future endeavors, exceptional athleticism, court awareness, scoring ability, leadership, and the uncanning ability to get her teammates involved in the game.
"I'm looking for Oshaela to come in and provide exceptional leadership, and a scoring presence on the court.  She could be an immediate positive contributor to our program."
Quote from SMC Women's Basketball Head Coach Lydia Strong:
I'm equally proud and thrilled that Oshaela has earned a full ride scholarship to Jackson State University.  Everyone knows how difficult it is to earn a Division I scholarship, but Oshaela worked hard both in the classroom and on the court and has been rewarded for her work.  She has been a pleasure to coach, and has grown quite a bit as a player and an on court leader here at SMC. I'm looking forward to following her career at Jackson State and I'm excited for her future.  All of us will miss her."
Oshaela Gray leaves SMC as one of the most decorated and successful women's basketball players ever.      During her two year career at SMC Gray has earned Team MVP (2016), SMC Athlete of the Year (2016), numerous All tournament tropies and was selected All Western State First team 2014 and 2015.  She averaged 16 points, 4 assists and 5 rebounds per game this season for the Corsairs.
