Women's Basketball wins Conference Championship

Santa Monica Coloege Women's Basketball finished the season on a high note defeating the LA Pierce College Brahmas 97-39.   The Corsairs (7-1) bounced back from their only defeat in conference play closing out the season.  

SMC featured balanced scoring with Katya Echavez (33 points) , Lauren Davis (28 points 7 rebounds) and Jessica Melamed (16 points 4 assists, 6 steals) leading the way. 

Mosou Secka also contributed with 6 points and 15 rebounds.

"This is an amazing accomplishment for the team," stated Head Coach Lydia Strong.  The girls have played hard and overcome obstacles this season that have made them stronger as a unit.  They really deserve this championship.  I am so proud of this team and we have had a lot of fun together on this season long journey."

With the victory SMC has secured a play off spot and will wait for the seeding meeting Monday.
