Santa Monica College Women's Basketball Sophomore Guard Jessica Melamed (Beverly Hills High School) was selected to the All Western States 1st team Saturday at Ventura College.
This is the second consecutive year Melamed was selected by the Conference coaches for this honor. Melamed averaged 18.3 points, and a conference leading 4.1 assists per game this season for the Corsairs.
"This is an amazing honor for Jessica," stated Head Coach Lydia Strong. "She has worked hard all season and was our leader as we looked to defend our conference championship from last season. I think Jess benefited from the experience from her freshman year here at SMC and I think she elevated her game this year as a result. She is an amazing player with a deadly outside shot. The passion she plays with makes her a tough player to guard. We will really miss her here at SMC."
