Women's Soccer Remains Undefeated

The Lady Corsairs on the Spartans of Mira Costa looking to keep their unbeaten record alive. From the beginning the match looked like it was going to be a tough one and that is exactly how it turned out. For the first 10 minutes the ball kept going back and forward with each team looking to keep possession of the ball. In the 11th minute it looked like the Lady Corsairs were going to strike first as Filippa Struxsjo picked up the ball outside of the box and shot a rocket at the goal. She may have beat the keeper, but could not put the ball in the goal as the ball hit the cross bar. From there again the match was a back and forward affair. Mira Costa got the ball in the 29th minute and started heading for goal and if it weren't for a huge save from Emma Romero the Lady Corsairs would have been down a goal. Right before the half it looked like the Lady Corsairs were going to go up a goal as Chrystal Dorado took a shot in the 42nd minute that looked all but in. However, it hit the crossbar and came out to Josseline Espinoza who hit the ball straight at the goalie who made the save and deflected the ball to Erika Pope who was able to put the ball in the back of the net. Unfortunately Pope was offside and the goal was called off. At the half the score was 0-0. The second half was not much different from the first. Each team had their chances and we're trying to keep the ball from each other. In the 50th minute Joscelyn Diaz had a shot on goal saved by the goalie. Finally the breakthrough came in the 65th minute as Daysi Serrano was able to pick up a deflected pass from Pope and put the ball in the back of the net. After that moment the Spartans went all out on attack trying to find the equalizer. In the 75th minute Romero was called upon again to make a big save and that she did. After that the Lady Corsairs were able to hold off the Spartans and keep the clean sheet and won the match 1-0. Next up for the Lady Corsairs is the Panthers of Chaffey College this Friday at Chaffey College.
