Women's soccer ties LA Harbor College

The Santa Monica College Corsairs traveled to take on LA Harbor Friday September 21. The Corsairs (4-1-3( found themselves trailing 1-0 in the first 2 minutes of the game after a shaky start. Filippa Struxsjo answered back for the Corsairs in the 17th minute to tie the game at one goal a piece. 

 
With minutes left to go in the first half, LA Harbor scored their second goal for the match making the halftime score 2-1 in their favor. 
 
The Corsairs came out firing from the start of the second half. In the second half alone the Corsairs recorded 22 shots and LA Harbor's goal keeper recorded 9 saves. SMC struggled to find their equalizing goal when with no time left on the clock a pentalty kick was awarded for a handball in the penalty area off of a cross and scramble for the ball. Filippa Struxsjo stepped up and buried a shot to end the game in a 2-2 draw. 
 
The SMC Corsairs will be traveling Tuesday September 25 to take on Ventura College at 6pm. The Corsairs are currently ranked #16 in the United Soccer Association for Junior College Division III Poll.
