SMC Women's soccer remains undefeated in conference play

The Santa Monica College Corsairs hosted Glendale College Friday October 19  for a game under the lights. The Corsairs had a rocky start in the match, but came through with a big win to keep their undefeated streak alive in Western State Conference play.

 

Just 4 minutes into the game, Dayli Ramos scored off of an assist from Beverly Bourdet to give the Corsairs an early 1-0 lead. Glendale upped their tempo and pressed hard against the Corsairs fighting off the second goal until the 24th minutes when Antoinette Saldana drilled in a free kick from about 25 yards out. Just minutes later, Glendale broke through and scored their only goal of the match to make the score 2-1 at half time. 

 

The Corsairs came out strong in the second half recording 13 shots and scoring 5 additional goals. Filippa Struxsjo started off the scoring finishing a penalty kick followed by a second goal from Dayli Ramos (assisted by Cindy Castro), Beverly Bourdet (assisted by Giselle Lopez), Cierra Little (assisted by Antoinette Saldana), and Cindy Castro (assisted by Beverly Bourdet). All of the final 5 goals were scored in the last 32 minutes of the match.

SMC recorded 24 shots with 18 shots on goal for the game to Glendale's 3 shots with only 1 on goal. Dayli Ramos lead the Corsairs with 2 goals followed by Beverly Bourdet with 1 goal and 2 assist in the game. It was a good win for the Corsairs in preparation for their game at West LA College on Tuesday at 2pm.

 

The Corsairs with a 10-1-4 record remain ranked #14 in the nation and undefeated in conference play.
