The Santa Monica College Corsairs defeated West LA College Tuesday October 23 at West LA. The Corsairs (4-0) dominated the match from start to finish.

Ana Gutierrez scored the first goal of the match off of an assist from Filippa Struxsjo in the 2nd minute of the game. Cierra Little followed with the second goal for the Corsairs in the 6th minute assisted by Beverly Bourdet, and the Corsairs kept rolling from there.

Before the first half ended, Renee Escobar (assisted by Antoinette Saldana) and Cierra Little (assisted by Dayli Ramos) both added another goal to make the half time score 4-0 in favor of the Corsairs.

The second half continued as the first with goals added by Ana Gutierrez and Filippa Struxsjo (assisted by Cierra Little). The game ended 6-0 with all the Corsairs getting a chance to make an impact in this match.   Yosemite Cruz and Evelyn Jimenez kept the clean sheet in goal for the Corsairs. Cierra Little led SMC in points for the match with 2 goals and 1 assist followed by Ana Gutierrez with 2 goals. The Corsairs finished the game with 17 shots, 8 of them being on goal to West LA's 5 shots with only 2 on goal. 

 This win brings the Corsairs to 11-1-4 for the season with a record of 4-0 in conference play. SMC fell to #15 in the nation after Poll 8 of the United Soccer Coaches Association. 

 

The Corsairs will travel Friday to take on LA Valley College at 3pm. The Corsairs will return home on Friday, November 2nd at 3pm against LA Pierce College.
