SMC Wins its second consecutive WSC Championship

The Santa Monica College Corsairs are now back-to-back Western State-South Conference Champions, finishing conferenc play with a record of 7-1. In the season finale, the Corsairs hosted rival West LA College defeating the Wildcats 5-0.  

SMC honored their sophomores who have left their mark on the program leading the team to back-to-back conference championships. Those honored included Beverly Bourdet, Paulina Salas, Antoinette Saldana, Jacky Montepeque, Flippa Struxsjo, Renee Escobar, and Erika Pope

The Corsairs were impressive from start to finish and dominated the match.   Filippa Struxsjo lead the way for the Corsairs with a hat trick (3 goals). Antoinette Saldana finished with a goal and an assist, along with a goal from Beverly Bourdet and an assist from Ruth Pelaez

 Yosemite Cruz picked up the shut out win for the Corsairs in goal bringing the teams overall record to 14-2-4 on the season. 

SMC will wait until Tuesday to find out if they will be hosting the first round of playoffs. The game will be played on Saturday, November 17th. The Corsairs are currently ranked 16th in the nation and are ready to make a run during playoffs.
