Women's Soccer Strong Start

The Corsairs women's soccer squad opened the 2022 season with an away game at Mira Costa College. The Corsairs opened strong with a fantastic first half of forward Emma Rierstam, scoring two goals (5', 30'). The second goal was assisted by midfielder Sophie Doumit. The Corsairs took their foot off the gas paddle in the second half when Mira Costa managed to score 20 minutes before the final whistle.

On Friday, September 2nd, the women went on another away game vs. El Camino College. The first half was eventless, but after half time the Corsairs came out like a bullet and scored two fast goals to the ECC net (Mathilda Isaksson 46', Ali Alban 56'). The Corsairs managed to keep the two-goal lead until the final whistle.

On September 7th, the Corsairs hosted Pasadena City College for their first home match of the season. Sophie Doumitt scored a penalty in the 18th minute and completed her second goal two minutes later. The Lancers scored a penalty at the beginning of the second half, but Emma Rierstam gave them exactly a minute to celebrate before scoring the third. The final score of the game was 4-1 after a late goal by midfielder Eden Bechnainou.

The fantastic season opener was cut after two straight losses, 3-1 to LA Pierce, and 5-2 to Chaffey College. The squad will try to get back on track with a home game, this Tuesday, September 20th, at 1 pm.
