SMC Women's Volleyball team is still perfect in conference after reverse sweeping Moorpark college yesterday, Friday, September 23rd.
The Corsairs started slow and did not have answers to the Raiders' offense. MC controlled the court and won the first two sets 25-16, 25-20. The Corsairs started the third set strong and were organized on defense, with an outstanding blocking performance by middle blocker #23 Rain Martinez, who also added 9 kills in the match.
The third set was all about the Corsairs who won it 25 to 20 and it seemed like Moorpark was shocked by the 'Sairs comeback. Both coaching staff reorganized their squads for the 5th and decisive set which went neck to neck from its beginning. An outstanding fighting spirit by the Corsairs yesterday was the main reason they won the 5th set 17-15.
The Corsairs need to worry about a 0.49 hitting percentage and 10 given aces on serve receive, but they definitely need to be encouraged by the way they put everything on the court and left everything out there until the last moment. A massive push from the stands helped the women's team as well, and we are witnessing winds of change in the program.
