So Cal Preview Recap for SMC Women's Cross Country

After enduring the tough Ventura course the previous week, the Santa Monica Women's Cross Country team must have been happy to see the almost-pancake-flat course of the Southern California Preview meet at Cerritos Regional Park.  Taking advantage of the lack of hills, the Lady Corsairs all had fast first miles.  Cynthia Tuxpan ran sub-7:00 for that part of the race, and held on to lead the team to the finish.

Maria Martinez almost broke 7:00 in that opening mile, and paced well to close on Cynthia by the end of the race.  Making a nice debut, Rhiannon Tracey went out gamely with Maria, but that proved to be a bit too aggressive.  Running in her first cross country competition ever, Sasha Shabasov impressively nailed the pacing, and now that she has her first race out of the way, she should look to put herself into some more discomfort for faster times.  Finally, Hillary Monterrosas had a significantly better outing as compared to the prior week.
