With five women back on the line, the Santa Monica Women's Cross Country team tested itself against the rest of the conference at the Western State Conference Preview this past Friday in San Luis Obispo. For the first time this year, Rhiannon Tracey led the Lady Corsairs with a gritty performance on a shaky ankle. Maria Martinez took the second spot with smart pacing over the opening mile. Cynthia Tuxpan had a hard time in the last mile, but she can come back with more energy next race. Showing clear signs of improvement, Sasha Shabasov closed the gap between her and Maria and Cynthia from two minutes at her previous race to ninety seconds this time around.
