Citrus College battled Santa Monica in five sets, but ultimately came up short in a 3-2 loss (25-18, 23-25, 22-25, 25-12, 15-13).
The Owls drop to 6-13 overall and 2-4 in Western State Conference-South action, while the Corsairs improve to 14-4 overall, 5-1 in conference.
Sabrina Evangelista led the Owls with 14 kills on the night, while Kalin Greene chipped in nine and had four blocks. Caren Stone and Mychaela Ortiz led the defensive efforts with 14 digs for Citrus, while Vanessa Marquez posted 31 assists and had three blocks.
The Owls continue on the road, taking on College of the Canyons on Friday at 6 p.m.
