Owls Battle in Citrus Conference Mini

Citrus College opened the Citrus Conference Mini with a dominant 16-5 victory over Santa Monica but lost a close 13-9 battle to Cuesta College in the nightcap.

The Owls drop to 5-10 overall and 1-2 in Western State Conference action with the split.

In the opener, Citrus scored five unanswered goals before leaping out to a 10-1 lead at halftime.

Amelia Wolfe led the Owls with four goals, followed by Teghan Miller with three goals. Mia Meldrum, Amanda Herrera, Mia Pfutzenrueter and Frankie Pacheco each scored two goals in the victory, while Bella Scott finished with one goal and three assists.

Sabrina Rodriguez and Stephanie Azizeh split time in the cage and together posted five saves to preserve the victory.

In the nightcap, Miller scored four goals to pace the Owls' offense. Wolfe added two goals, while Meldrum, Herrera, and Sierra Beltran each scored once.

Citrus gets a week off before hosting a two-day tournament next Friday and Saturday.
