(Walnut, CA) Following its season-opening win over Mt. San Jacinto on April 13, the Mt. SAC Women's Tennis team returned to action on Tuesday April 20, only to come up short, 5-4, against visiting Santa Monica (1-0).

For the Mounties (1-1), Alex Vasquez defeated the Corsairs' Maya Brandis, 6-3, 6-4, while teammate Rebecca Contreras came from behind to top Santa Monica's Shayesteh Moeini, 2-6, 6-4, 10-6.

In doubles competition, Mt. SAC earned two points behind wins from the teams of Cassandra Paulson/Vasquez (8-4) and Contreras/Priya Singh (8-4) over the Corsair teams of Brandis/Yasna Yaghoubi and Kiara Gulati/Moeini, respectively.

The Mounties will continue their homestand on Thursday, April 22, against Ventura College (1-2). Due to COVID-19 restrictions, no spectators are allowed.
