Golden West Travels to Santa Monica to Defeat Corsairs

Huntington Beach, Calif. - Golden West women' (2-3-1) soccer earned their second win of the season over Santa Monica (1-2-3), 2-1.

The Rustlers continued their heavy road schedule to start the season as the squad traveled to Santa Monica. Both teams began the game with one win and looked to improve their overall record. Golden West managed to score off of a deflection from the Corsair defense. Olivia Villalba was able to find the net after a mishap from the Santa Monica defenders near their own goal to make the score, 1-0.

From great execution, Mollie Miskelly scored the Rustlers second goal off of a cross assist from Jasmine Edalati. Though Santa Monica did score one goal, their efforts were not enough to catch up to Golden West. The Rustlers traveled home with their second win of the season. In goal, Chloe Miller only allowed one goal and saved nine Santa Monica attempts.

NEXT UP: The Rustlers will travel to Irvine Valley for the teams first conference appearance on Tuesday, September 26th. Kick off will be 12:30pm.
