College of the Canyons picked up its second road victory of the week after traveling to Santa Monica on Friday.
The Cougars (10-4-1, 7-1-1) took down the Corsairs in a 3-1 victory and tacked on another conference win, keeping them on top of the standings.
COC's leading goal-scorer Rebekah Brooks put the Cougars up 2-0 in the first half with goals in the 25th and 39th minutes. Brooks has now recorded 14 goals on the season.
Twenty minutes into the second half, Canyons was awarded a PK. Freshman Shelby Cooper promptly put the ball away to increase the lead to 3-0.
However, ten minutes later, Santa Monica's Sophie Doumitt found an opportunity and put one past the Cougar's goalkeeper, Kylie Yuzon.
Though the Corsairs' goal gave SMC slight momentum, the Cougars kept them at bay and did not allow any more scoring opportunities.
Santa Monica (3-6-5, 2-2-4) recorded two shots in the game, one of which was a goal and the other recorded as a save for Yuzon.
Yuzon played the full 90 minutes and was credited with the win.
The Cougars are back in action at home on Tuesday, Nov. 2, hosting the visiting L.A. Valley College at 6 p.m.
