Softball goes 2-2 on the week, defeats Santa Monica to open WSC North action

MOORPARK, CA - The road warrior Raider Softball team played four games last week traveling to LA Mission for a double-header, then to Santa Monica to open WSC North action and finally playing a rain make-up game at East LA. When the sun had set on Friday night, the Raiders dropped the double to Mission, 7-3, 7-5, defeted Santa Monica, 22-0, and East LA, 10-0, to end the week 2-2. They are currently 10-6 and 1-0 in WSC North.

In the first game of two, the Eagles opened up a 5-0 lead going to bottom half of the 5th inning when Kylie Kolkowski scored on Maddy Mekari's RBI double. The Raiders got two more in the 6th off Danielle Bishop's 2 RBI double. Amanda Smith got the loss.

In the night cap, Mission once again raced out to a 4-0 lead after 1. The Raiders chipped away at the lead scoring 3 in the 3rd. Mission came back and added two more runs to extend their lead to 6-3. The Raiders would score score a run in the 4th and 5th but couldn't get closer. Mallory Akhlaghi went 1 for 4 with a double and RBI. Leah Cowans went 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs. Mallory Merkari had a triple.

Back on the road to open WSC North action, the Raiders opened the 1st with 7 run outburst and never looked back. Danielle Bishop went 4 for 4 with 2 doubles, a homerun and 2 RBIs and scored 5 runs. Taytem Reyes went 3 for 4 with a double, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Leah Cowans went 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs. Amanda Smith went 2 for 4 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored and she pitched a perfect game.

Playing another rain make-up game, the Raiders opened the game scoring 3 runs in the first. They added 1more run in the 2nd and 6 more in 4th to close out the scoring. Reyes went 4 for 4 with a triple, RBI, and 3 runs scored. Akhlaghi went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Bishop went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Isabella Velasquez went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a run scored.

The Raiders continue WSC North action on the road to Oxnard, Tuesday, 3/12 2:30p. The off to Hancock for a 1p start on Thursday, 3/14 and finishing up the week with another rain make-up game at El Camino on Saturday, 3/16, 12p
