PANTHERS COMPLETE REGULAR SEASON WITH SANTA MONICA SHUTOUT WIN
The Panthers completed the 2022 regular season yesterday at Santa Monica, shuttting out the Corsairs 8-0.
Chaffey came out swinging putting three on the board in the first inning with Marissa Marquez opening the scoring drive off with a two RBI homer. Marquez snagged another RBI in the 4th when a fielder's choice brought Violet Salazar across the plate. Salazar had a solo homer (her 6th of the season) in the 5th to secure the mercy win. "It was good to see Cora, Marisa and Violet continue their hot hitting," said Head Coach Jerry Tivey.
Isabella Anzueto started the game on the mound, putting in the first three hitless/runless innings against Santa Monica. Celeste Paniagua closed out the game with one hit and 8 strikeouts. "Our pitchers (Izzy & Celeste) were outstanding and the defense made some nice plays."
"Overall, we've had an excellent regular season (27-12) and we're excited to be heading into the playoffs next week."
Playoff opponent, date, and location will be announced Monday.
