Under the first full season with Coach Christian Cammayo, the SMC Beach team started red hot.

 

Going into last week, the team was 19-1 in set scores and 4-0 overall. Last Wednesday, The Corsair Beach team dropped a highly contested match vs Long Beach City College 2-3.

 

In a thrilling match, SMC's 2s pair of Sophomore players Trishia Fields (Toronto, Canada) and Arianna Urena (Glendale, CA) swept LBCC's, while freshman 5s pair Sophia Vandenberg (Meridian, Idaho) got swept. The other three pairs all went overtime, and all matches were decided by a couple of points in their respective third sets. 1s pair of Sophomore Indoor Conference Libero of the Year Sophia Odle (Keller Texas) and 6'3" Freshman phenom Nicole Lankton dropping in three 12-15. 4s pair of freshman former CIF Beach Champion Prior Borick (Encino, CA) and 6'2" freshman Allison Horin (Seattle, Washington) outlasting LBCC 15-12.

 

All the drama then quickly shifted into the last remaining match. Unfortunately the 3s pair of returning Sophomore beach blocker Maiella Riva (Lake Tahoe, CA) and freshman Chloe Lewis (Arlington, Washington) fell 12-15 in overtime.
