The Corsairs head back out on the road after a two-week break to open American Pacific League play at Moorpark College. Santa Monica College (SMC) Football had a scheduled bye week last week but missed their scheduled fifth game because of a COVID related postponement. SMC sits at 2-2 after defeating Orange Coast College in their last game by a score of 29-22.

In what promises to be an exciting game, fans will get to see the two top statistical passers in the Pacific league. Sam Vaulton is leading the league with 244 yards per game and Trae Johnson of Moorpark is second with 233.3 yards per game.

This will be the first time Santa Monica has played at Moorpark College since 2017 when they were both part of the National Northern league. That game ended the season with a 55-30 loss for the Corsairs.

Pacific League Statistical Leaders

The Corsairs come into the game with four statistical league leaders.

Max Palees, FR LB from Palisades High School leads the league with 8.3 tackles per game.

Tariq Brown, SO WR, leads the league in two categories. He is the leading receiver in the league averaging over 80 yards per game receiving and he shares the league lead for the most receiving TDs with four.

Josiah Neos, FR RB, is leading the league with four Rushing TDs, he also has added two receiving TDs.

Sam Vaulton is leading the league in passing yards per game and he shares the league lead in Passing TDs.

Road Corsairs

SMC is 2-0 on the road this season after beating OCC in their last game.

Coaching Connection

Head Coaches Kelly Ledwith, SMC, and Mike Stuart, Moorpark, first crossed paths while at Fresno State in 2007. Coach Ledwith was a Defensive Graduate Assistant for the Bulldogs while Coach Stuart was a Defensive End who had transferred in from Moorpark College. Current Moorpark Defensive Backs coach, Randy Stewart, was also at Fresno State at the time as the DB coach.
