Villi, Clay, and Degrate voted All-Conference in 2022

Santa Monica, Calif. – Santa Monica College Men's Basketball had solid representation in the Western State South All-Conference voting by the head coaches. Freshman Alex Villi was voted to the Western State-South Conference First Team. Freshman Chianti Clay Jr. and Sophomore Eli Degrate were voted Western State-South Conference Honorable Mention.

Villi led our team in scoring at 14.4 points per game, grabbed 6.4 rebounds per game, dished out 2.4 assists per game, swiped 1.2 steals per game, and shot 37.1% 3FG during conference play. 

"Alex was our best player all season long. He scored 24 points twice and 22 points once during conference play. He was our go-to-player on offense, and he certainly delivered," said Head Coach Joshua Thomas.

Clay Jr. was our second leading scorer with 11.9 points per game, grabbed 1.6 rebounds per game, dished out 1.7 assists per game, and led our team with three three-pointers made per game on 38.2% 3FG. Degrate was our third leading scorer with 11.4 points per game, grabbed 4.4 rebounds, and dished out 2.9 assists per game.

"Chianti was huge for us in conference play. In the second game of conference he dropped 30 points off of the bench and made eight three-pointers, and then in the latter half of conference he dropped 31 points with nine three-pointers made as a starter," said Coach Thomas. "Eli was very solid for our team during conference play. Eli scored in double figures in 10 of the 14 conference games."
