"I would like to thank all my teammates, coaches, and family for helping me get to this position. I wouldn't be here without them," said Clay Jr. "I chose UFTL because I like what their building over there. They just came off a final four run in the NCCAA tournament, and I want to be a part of something special."

In the 2022-2023 season, Clay Jr. averaged 11.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.64 steals per game with Santa Monica College, and he shot 40.9% from three-point range and 85.2% from the free throw line. In the 2021-2022 season at SMC, Clay Jr. averaged 9.2 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.

"It was a pleasure to be a part of Chianti's journey. I have never coached a player who has the three-point range that he has. He legitimately has that deep three NBA range, and he displayed that during his time here at SMC," shared Head Coach Joshua Thomas. "Chianti was a great teammate and a great student here. UTFL is getting a young man who loves to shoot and make big shots. He can score in bunches and the defense always must guard him at least 30 feet out from the basket. I know Chianti will do great things at UTFL, and he will show up every day ready to make an impact on his team."

Clay Jr. was named Western State-South Conference Honorable Mention in both of his years at SMC. He registered six conference games of 21 points or more and two games of 30 points or more in conference play.

"My time at Santa Monica College was fun. I made many memories with teammates and coaches. It was a great experience and a great school. I am glad to be a part of the SMC family forever," explained Clay Jr.
