Santa Monica College Men's Basketball 6-7 Sophomore Wing Dennis Cash is continuing his academic and athletic career at Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Cash, who hails from Moreno Valley, California, played one season with the Corsairs and graduated with his AA degree in the Spring of 2023.

"I'd like to thank all my coaches that I've played for coming up to this time. I'd also like to thank my mother for everything she's been doing for me all these years and doing the absolute best for my siblings and I," said Cash. "I am very thankful for all my friends and teammates that support me and push me to be the best version of me and always sticking by my side through it all and helping anyway they can."

In the 2022-2023 season, Cash averaged 6.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.87 blocks per game, and 0.74 steals per game with Santa Monica College, and he shot 54% from the field. Cash scored in double figures five times and led the Corsairs with 15 dunks for the season.

"I chose my school because of the success the team has had, and a degree from there is really good as well. I feel I can do a good job adding to the team's success, and Coach Hammett believes it too.," explained Cash. "I feel very welcomed and accepted by Coach Hammett and the team to come and be a part of the family. I plan on bringing everything on the court to Penn State Wilkes-Barre. The fans can expect exciting plays from me and more."

Cash registered season-highs of 13 points, 10 rebounds (twice), four assists (twice), three steals (twice), and three blocks (twice).

"Dennis is such a fine young man with a bright future. Dennis is one of the most athletic players that I have ever coached, and he had some very powerful dunks this season. I am very happy for Dennis and his family. Although this season presented a lot of exterior challenges for Dennis, he persevered," said Head Coach Joshua Thomas. "I know he will bring lots of energy, rebounding, and rim-rattling dunks at Penn State Wikes-Barre. He will certainly be a fan favorite."

"My time at Santa Monica wasn't very long, but I loved it. Earning my degree from there meant a lot. I went through a lot of adversity and Coach Thomas was very helpful and understanding. Life is like a sandwich - no matter which way you flip it the bread comes first," said Cash.
