SANTA MONICA, Calif., April 20, 2023 -- The Santa Monica College Track and Field teams head to the Western States Conference Prelims meet Friday April 21st at Antelop Valley College. The meet will determine who advances to the conference finals on April 28th.

James Jimenez, a sophomore distance runner, will be racing in the 800m and 1500m events. He has been training hard all season and hopes to improve his personal bests and qualify for the finals.

Assistant Track Coach and Head Cross Country Eric Barron is looking forward to seeing the athletes compete, "This is the time of year where it becomes run fast - or go home."

Head Track and Field coach Larry Silva added, "We have a lot of talented runners, jumpers, and throwers on our teams, and I'm proud of how they have prepared for this meet. They have shown dedication, resilience, and teamwork throughout the season. I'm hoping they can perform well and advance to the finals."
