Santa Monica, San Mateo Players Earn CCCWCA State Players of Week #12

Santa Monica College setter-opposite Mia Paulson and College of San Mateo middle blocker Olivia Harrison earned this week's CCCWVCA State Player of the Week #12.

Paulson, a 6-foot-1 versatile talent from Truckee High in Lake Tahoe, helped SMC to back-to-back victories last week that extended the Corsairs win streak to 10 matches. She scored nine kills with 10 set assists in a win over Glendale, then pounded eight kills in just 10 attempts (hit .700) with 15 assists, a season-high five aces and two solo blocks in a sweep over Antelope Valley.

While helping Santa Monica to a share of the Western State South Division title, Paulson recorded her second triple-double of the season in Tuesday's 5-set loss v. Ventura. She powered 12 kills, dished out 16 assists, made 11 digs and had six blocks (four solos) in an amazing all-around performance.

Harrison, 6-2 from Palo Alto High in Stanford, is a NCAA Division I returnee who played as a freshman at George Washington University. She put together some of her season's best performances in the last week, including scoring 10 kills in 15 swings (no errors, hit .667) in a sweep over Ohlone. She then had eight kills and six block assists v. West Valley. Harrison saved her best for last as she blasted her season-best of 16 kills (.438) and a season-high eight blocks in a 5-set defeat v. Hartnell.

This concludes the POTW for the 2023 season as so many deserving players received state recognition.
