Santa Monica College Men's Basketball 6-9 Freshman Power Forward Elias King signed a letter of intent to continue his athletic and academic career at Quinnipiac University of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. King was voted honorable mention to the 2019-2020 CCCAA All-State Team and was voted to the Western State-South Division Conference First Team. King had season-highs of 29 points, 15 rebounds and six assists in his only season at Santa Monica College. King led the Corsairs in scoring at 14.9 points per game and free throw percentage at 89%.

"Our staff and entire team are excited for Elias," said Santa Monica College Men's Basketball Head Coach Joshua Thomas. "Elias had five Division I offers to choose from - Quinnipiac University, Saint Peter's University, Chicago State University, Alabama A&M University, and the University at Albany. We are glad he found the best school and basketball program for him. Elias is a tremendous basketball player and a great student-athlete. Elias holds a 3.44 GPA at SMC and we are certain he will continue to be great student-athlete there as well."

King is a native of Sacramento, CA and he was one of the top high school basketball players in Northern California. His family relocated to Southern California, and he decided to attend Santa Monica College.

"I had a great time at Santa Monica College, and I am thankful for the great experience that I had with academics and the basketball program," King said.

King will relocate again and take his talents to Hamden, CT to play under head coach Baker Dunleavy, who comes from a basketball family. His father, Mike Dunleavy Sr., played 10 years in the NBA and served as an NBA Head Coach for the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trailblazers, and Milwaukee Bucks. His brother, Mike Dunleavy Jr., played 15 years in the NBA and was the third overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft.

"Elias is a talented and versatile forward that will grow as a player while making those around him better. He had great success last year at Santa Monica College, and his contributions will help our program improve on a daily basis. We're excited to welcome Elias and his family to our program," said Quinnipiac University Head Coach Dunleavy.
