Santa Monica, Calif. – Santa Monica College Men’s Basketball Associate Head Coach Marcus Bryant has been named the Men’s Basketball Head Coach of Los Angeles Trade Tech College. Bryant served on the 2021-2022 Santa Monica College Men’s Basketball staff alongside Head Coach Joshua Thomas and Assistant Ali Parvaz.

Bryant, who hails from Philadelphia, brings over 18 years of coaching experience to LA Trade Tech College.

“I’d like to start by saying I really enjoyed my time at SMC. It was a fun and educational experience. I learned a ton from Coach Thomas and Coach Ali. I couldn’t have asked to work with a better staff. Coach Thomas really took me under his wing this past season and prepared me to be a head coach. The lessons I learned were invaluable,” said LA Trade Tech Head Coach Bryant.

Bryant had a successful stint at SMC. He recruited some talented student-athletes to the team. One of which, Daiquan Copeland, signed with Division I participant Morgan State University. Bryant played a vital role in the daily operations of the SMC Men’s Basketball program in his lone season. He recruited,

developed scouting reports, facilitated film sessions, actively coached in practices and games, and helped develop the players’ skillsets.

“Thank you to the administration at SMC, particularly Mr. Reggie Ellis. He also supported my dream of becoming a head coach. The support I was given means the world to me and I will be forever grateful. SMC will always be a special place for me. I wish Coach Thomas and the team all the success in the world,” said LA Trade Tech Head Coach Bryant.

“First, I am so happy for my guy Marcus! He is such a great person and a phenomenal coach. I know the feeling of getting your first opportunity as a head coach. LA Trade Tech has hired a gem. Marcus will revive the program there. Marcus is a tireless recruiter and has a great ability at relating with people. It was great to work alongside him this past season. I look forward to cheering him on next season and moving forward in his career,” shared Head Coach Thomas. “Marcus is a great father, and he is devoted to his family. I am happy that his kids get to run around at LA Trade Tech and see their dad run the show! I know Marcus will do a great job and I cannot wait to sit and watch him coach his team as a fan!”
