Santa Monica, Calif. – Santa Monica College Men's Basketball 6-4 Redshirt Sophomore Combo Guard Cam Cohn signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at South Dakota School of Mines, a member in the competitive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). Cohn, who hails from Houston, TX, played two seasons at Santa Monica College (SMC) and graduated with his AA degree last Spring. Cohn is a very good student and has made the Dean's Honors List every semester at SMC.

"I would like to thank everyone who believed in me when there wasn't much to believe in. I want to also thank my brothers Anthony, Obi, Isaiah, Blake, Andre, and Coach Chuck for supporting me when I felt like giving up on myself," shared Cohn.  "My time as SMC was eye opening for me. I had to reinvent myself and my game, and I think I am better off for it. Junior college was never in my plans, but I have grown mentally and spiritually. I would like to thank Coach T, Coach Marcus, and Coach Thomas for giving me this opportunity to find a better version of myself going forward."

In the 2022-2023 season, Cohn averaged 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game with Santa Monica College. In the 2021-2022 season at SMC, Cohn averaged 9.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 0.8 steals per game.

"I chose South Dakota Mines because they showed me the most support and made me feel like I will have the support I need to be great," explained Cohn. "I plan to bring a bit of everything to the court next year, but most importantly, I will bring what it takes to win games."

In conference play of the 2022-2023 season, Cohn elevated his play and led the conference in scoring with 20.4 points per game, and he added 4.9 rebounds per game, 2.3 assists per game, 1.4 steals per game, and 1.0 block per game while shooting 45.7% from the field, 40.4% from three-point range, and 80.2% from the free-throw line. During his time playing for the Corsairs, Cohn registered career-highs of 35 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, four steals (twice), and two blocks (four times).

"I am very proud of Cam. Cam was our best player this season. He guarded the best perimeter player, led us in scoring, created shots for his teammates, and was one of the best players in the state in drawing fouls to get to the free throw line," said Head Coach Joshua Thomas. "I am so glad to have been a part of his journey. I spent a lot of time with Cam these past two seasons, and I am happy for his successes. He is a very special, intelligent person, and he has a promising future ahead of him on and off of the court."
