Santa Monica College (SMC) Athletics is proud to announce that its swim team will be competing in the conference meet this week at LA Valley College. The meet will take place from April 20 to April 22 and will feature some of the best swimmers in the region.

The SMC women's team is a strong contender for the conference title, as they are seeded first in all five women's relays: 200 medley, 400 medley, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, and 800 freestyle. The team consists of Valerie Burchard, Risa Akatsu, Reva Reignier, Emily Lester, Ema Kilmauskas, and Wilma Henriksson, who are all seeded in the top three in each of their individual events.

The SMC men's team also has some impressive swimmers who are seeded in the top three: Hiro Inoki and Tristan Quiane. They will be competing in various events such as the 1st 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly.

Head Coach Brian Eskridge is excited about his team's opportunity this week to compete for a conference title. "Our women's team has put a lot of good times together this year and it will be fun to see them go for it this week. Our men's team has also shown a lot of improvement and dedication throughout the season. I'm proud of all our swimmers and I'm looking forward to cheering them on at the meet."

SMC invites all students, faculty, staff, and community members to support the swim team at the conference meet. The meet schedule and results can be found on the SMC Athletics website: https://www.smccorsairs.com/sports/wswimdive/index
