Coaching Philosophy and Athlete Attributes

As a coach I believe I strive to build a well-rounded, complete team that works together towards a common goal both in and out of the pool. I want our team to have a consistent message, philosophy, and effort in everything we do in the pool, in the weight room, and in the classroom. The way athletes practice and conduct their lives before the game or meet is how they will respond during competition. The rules are the same for everyone from the best player to the last player on the bench. Everyone on the team needs to engage in a year-round commitment to each other and put in the work necessary so we can all succeed together. I always try to support and encourage my players to reach their full potential and only use discipline when needed and always in a fair way. If the team can believe in themselves and believe in each other, together they will work harder so they can all achieve greatness together.

I am always looking for hard-working, dedicated STUDENT-Athletes who will commit themselves to the program and to their teammates. Our athletes need to be selfless and able to work together towards a common goal. They need to be ready to compete every day in practice and in the classroom, so they are ready to compete in the competition. Putting in the work year-round is what leads to success during the season. If you are not eligible, you cannot help the team succeed, and if you are not in shape ready to give 100%, you cannot help the team succeed.  All of our student-athletes need to be ready to work to be the best they can be so we can be the best we can be.
