So Cal Preview Recap for SMC Men's Cross Country

Coach Eric Barron

With over 300 runners on the line at the Southern California Preview meet in Cerritos, the Santa Monica Men's Cross Country team was going to have to get off the line quickly for free running room.  Leonard MacComas certainly did that, putting himself into tenth place in the opening mile, and pressing ahead to sixth overall come the finish line.

Edwin Dominguez had a solid race, tiring slightly in the second half to take the two spot for the Corsairs.  Newcomer Omar Vargas showed no fear as he held close to Edwin for four miles.  Chris Church-Bryant and Gabriel Lodato went out a bit too aggressively and ended up with average mile paces 40 seconds slower than their first mile.  Some more caution at the start will lead to faster finishes.  Giovanni Policarpo and Michael Bardales had outings they would rather forget, but if they can learn from them, they, too, will race faster in the future.
