SMC Women's Basketball defeated Long Beach City College in the first round of the Ventura College Invitational tournament.  The Corsairs (2-2) bounced back from their last defeat to get the win.  "Tonight we made another step in a positive direction. We are a young developing team and tonight it was great to see the improvements.   We did some great things in the second half of the game, especially in the rebounding area and that helped us get the win.  We must continue to hit the boards so we can have positive results every game."    The Corsairs were led by Freshman, Mariam Moges (Santa Monica High) and Ariana Quintana (Taft High) with 19 and 16 points respectively.  Freshman Nina Gazzo (Hamilton High) 7 points, 9 rebounds also contributed in the victory.
